The results from the 2012 Study of Product Team Performance are in and there are certainly some interesting insights to be gained. We’d love to share the data now but Greg Geracie, who will be presenting the results at our webinar on the 28th, asked us not to spoil the surprise.
We can tell you that industry experts give estimates of product failure rates vary between 50% and 75%. Between outright product failures and underperforming products, we believe that the “real” number is towards the top end of this range.
In this most recent study, conducted by Actuation Consulting and Enterprise Agility, 88% of organizations have self-reported that they could do better at delivering products on-time, on scope, and on budget. This leaves huge room for improvement within product management and organizations as a whole. In order to become more successful in the market, we believe that most companies with any level of complexity need to start by modernizing their product planning process. Starting with taking product data out of its silos, companies can get everyone in the organization aligned around the same information and set of priorities and create products based on the bigger picture.
We are excited to be joined by Greg Geracie, President of Actuation Consulting and the driving force behind the 2012 Study of Product Team Performance as he reveals the results of this study and shares what he thinks are the factors that impact product team performance. Greg will be discussing issues facing product teams such as staying aligned with business objectives, building executive support for products, and effective product development methodologies. We hope to see you at the webinar on the 28th!
